Second Wind Dreams

March 24, 2010

It is with great excitement that we contact you today!  It is our pleasure to announce to you that the Harrah’s Foundation and Second Wind Dreams® are working together to cultivate relationships with nursing homes in your area.  Founded in 1997, this is an award winning, nationally recognized program that has granted dreams to over 6,000 residents of nursing homes and assisted living communities.  The Harrah’s Foundation has recommended that we contact you about participating in this program.  The Harrah’s Foundation is the non-profit arm of the Harrah’s Casino family dedicated to supporting community efforts that benefit elders.

We are in the initial phase of the program which includes identifying local Elder Care Communities (Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities) as possible participants.  We would like to set up an appointment with you during the first week of April, to introduce ourselves and to answer any questions you might have about the Harrah's / Second Wind Dreams® initiative.  If you are interested in being a part of this program, please call Laurie Labishak, Director of Membership & Chapter Development, as soon as possible to schedule an appointment.  The number to call is 740-972-2426.  We can only work with five elder care communities in your area.  Please provide us with a few times that would be convenient to talk.  We have times available April 5th – 8th.  We would expect the meeting to not be much longer than 30 minutes.

Please note that thanks to the Harrah’s Foundation, we are bringing this program to you at absolutely no cost to you or the elders that you serve.  In addition, this will bring new community volunteers straight to your door!  It’s a win win scenario for every nursing home and assisted living community in Atlantic City and the surrounding area.  We know you don’t want to miss out!

In the meantime we would encourage you to visit our Web site (www.secondwind.org) to view some of the dreams that have come true.

We look forward to talking with you soon.  If you have questions, please feel free to contact Laurie at 740-972-2426 or through email at laurie@secondwind.org.  You can also contact the home office of Second Wind Dreams® in Alpharetta, Georgia, at 678-624-0500.  The sooner you contact us, the sooner we can start improving the quality of life for the elders that you serve.  Remember, we can only offer lifetime scholarships to five elder care communities in your area so the sooner you make the call to schedule an appointment, the sooner we can begin working for you ABSOLUTELY FREE!

Tru TV Seeks Activity Director to be in Reality TV Show

January 20, 2010

My name is Heather Teta and I’m the Casting Director for Tru TV’s exciting new show, All Worked Up.  All Worked Up is a new documentary-style reality show profiling the work lives of people in unique careers…the ultimate professionals who manage to keep cool as cucumbers  no matter what stress or "drama" comes their way on the job.  We’re filming with a wide variety of businesses and careers across the country but my goal is to find a dynamic Activity Director to take part in this exciting new series and show us what it takes to stay cool under pressure while handling the stress of organizing and executing events of all sizes, managing quirky personalities and trying to keep everyone happy and satisfied on a daily basis!   We’ve filmed with really intense careers in the past, including Repo, Towing and Impound and even Security…and we think that profiling a fabulous Activity Director would be a fun way to lighten up the feel of the show while also showing a different kind of "drama."  We know that Activity Directors must interact with tons of fun characters and plenty of funny/dramatic stories to share – anyone who has ever planned a party or event knows how stressful it can be (especially when Murphy's Law comes into play)...I can only imagine all the drama that goes into planning activities full time on a professional level!

Our goal is to show our featured Activity Director in a positive light, to profile the Business or Community Center (a little free publicity never hurt anyone, right?) and highlight the professionalism of the staff but to also make our viewers aware of how stressful it can be when you're in charge of entertaining and servicing a large group of people…especially when you're working on more than one activity at one time!  The characters we highlight on All Worked Up are always the “good guys” so we want to film the staff diffusing road blocks and problem solving in a professional way.  If you feel like your Activity/Community Center is made-for-TV (or if you have any recommendations of Centers I should reach out to), I'd love to hear from you!!

Please feel free to contact me with questions or if you’d like to discuss the show in more detail!

Best Regards,

Heather Teta
